Modest 4x4 Club

2009 Big Rig Show

The Big Rig Show went over well again this year! I want to thank all the participants and sponsors: Franklin/Grand Isle Bookmobile, Swanton Public Library, and Building Bright Futures for making this event happen again and including us! There we sirens flashing, horns scaring unsuspecting patrons as they walked by, free books, coffee, milk and snacks! Vermont Off-Road Inc. gave away a lot of Off-Road magazines and Modest 4X4 Club stickers!

Minus the freezing wind, it was eventful. We cried at the recovery vehicle the Army National Guard had on display. They would not let us drive it, not sure why though, they also declined our offer for mud race with the Hummer. Those guys are so serious all the time and tough!

VORI thanks Jim, Jess and Trevor for bringing the 4X4s for the kids to play on and look at. A lot of questions were asked and a lot of smiles were seen. Thanks to Dustin, Travis, Butch, Bruce, Cody and Kolton for staying and helping the club all day.

After the show we decided to go test out Trevor’s new 35” tires he put on Candace and to see what Jess’s Dailey driver could do at the Milton Sand pits. Also, to show the southerners what the Milton Sand Pits held for fun and why the clean up is desperately needed. So Jim and Butch tagged along! We started off to the side trails and headed straight to the Hill as we call it. Trevor felt a little brave and thought he would give the hill a try. The hill that has been not so kind to him in 3 years. So he crawled under her, put her in 4-lo and proceeded to the face. With a little direction from his father, Trevor and Candace beat the monkey that had plagued them for 3 years. After that the crew went on to the mud holes minus Jim. He had some stuff to do and still was recovering from the sickness he had. We went on to watch Bruce beat on Jess’s jeep up the slope hill and watch Trevor drown Candace in a water hole that covered his new 35s. Humbled and water logged that was the end of the Big Rig Show. Dustin’s jeep never made it, it got sick around Montpelier and he had to drive it back home. He brought the faithful car though… Here’s Trevor’s moment of Glory.
